Competitions this week are a nine hole re-entry  on the 26th and the Christmas Scramble on the 27th, draw at 12.30. New Years day  will be a 12 hole stableford. A Texas Holdem Poker Classic will be held on  Monday 28th in the Clubhouse at 4.00. The event is in aid of Club Funds, all  support appreciated.&lt;br /&gt;Finally we wish all members, friends and supporters a  Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;30th  November&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Results for last Sundays Christmas Turkey Competition  were 1st Gerry Emmett with 19pts, 2nd Michael Simon 18pts (Countback) and 3rd  Gary Carty 18pts. Next Sunday will be the Christmas Bonanza with prizes for all  cards returned. Format will be 18 hole stableford. Prize-giving will take place  at 5.30 with each person picking their prize in order of placing. It is  important to attend to ensure you choose your own prize (unless you come  last).&lt;br /&gt;At the Mens AGM held in the Clubhouse last week Captain Brendan  Gaffney thanked all the Members, Officers and Committee for their support in  2009 and said it had been a great honour for him to be Captain. He also thanked  all local people and business for their support during the year. He wished  incoming Captain James Cooke the best for the coming year. In response James  Cooke thanked the Meeting for electing him and looked forward to a successful  2010. He paid tribute to Brendan Gaffney for a great year and thanked him for  all his hard work. The newly elected Officers are Captain James Cooke, Vice  Captain Michael Keville, President Willie Tiernan, Secretary Jim Mooney,  Treasurer Jimmy Doyle,&lt;br /&gt;In other news congrats &amp;amp; best wishes to James  “Tractor” Shivnan who celebrated a notable&lt;br /&gt;birthday last week.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;9th November&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div style="text-align: justify;"&gt;The winter league  finished last weekend, thanks to all who took part. Thanks also to the  organisers for all the work in ensuring the competition was a great success and  to Phil and Gerry for providing catering. The competition winners were Brendan  Gaffney, Michael Reid and Attracta Keville, in 2nd place were James Cooke, James  Shivnan and Eddie Conroy. 3rd place went to Dermot Lally, Ross Andrew and Paddy  McLoughlin. The daily prize winners were, 1st day Jim Mooney, Timmy Carty and  Ryan Finneran, 2nd day Patrick Egan, Michael Bermingham and Mary McKeon, 3rd day  Sean Heslin, Vincent Egan and Gerry O'Hara. Last Sunday was also the first of  the Christmas Turkey competitions. Results were 1st Terry Bright (22pts), 2nd  Gerry Emmett (21pts) and 3rd Pat Conroy (20pts).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;Next Sunday will be second  of the Turkey competitions. Format will be a nine hole stableford. A club outing  will also take place next weekend to Castlebar with golf in Claremorris and  Ballinrobe. Report to follow next week.&lt;br /&gt;Date for your diary are the AGM’s  next Sunday at 5.00 for the Mens and Ladies Clubs. All members are encouraged to  attend. The  winners were the “Dream Team” of Liam Whyte, Michael Keville and Pat Conroy who  finished with a great score of 57.2, close behind in second place were the  Loftus Family of Colm, Dara and Margaret who finished with 57.4. Rumour is that  Margaret was the Putting Queen in the team, 3rd place went to Pat Gannon and  Phil and Gerry Emmett with a score of 58.8.&lt;br /&gt;Next weekend is the final round  of the Winter league with all still to play for. Leading the way are Brendan  Gaffney, Michael Reid and Attracta Keville, with Dermot Lally, Ross Andrew and  Paddy McLoughlin close behind. Gerry Emmett, Declan Carty and Gerry Egan are in  third place. Watch out for the King Harmon Final between Brendan Gaffney and  Michael Keville.&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;18 October&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The 2nd round of  the winter league took place last weekend with most teams still in contention.  Current leaders are Brendan Gaffney, Michael Reid and Attracta Keville, 2nd  Dermot Lally, Ross Andrew and Paddy McLoughlin, 3rd Gerry Emmett, Declan Carty  and Gerry Egan. The final round takes place in two weeks time as next weekend is  a Club Classic. Format will be a Three Ball Scramble and can be played Saturday,  Sunday and Monday.Entry fee is €15 per person with a re-entry of €10. Catering  will be available on Sunday and Monday.&lt;br /&gt;Last Thursday's Mens competition was  won by Michael Keville with 22 pts, 2nd Brendan Gaffney, 3rd Dermot Lally.  Results from Thursday 8th were 1st Owen Garvin 25pts, 2nd Michael Rush 21pts and  3rd Michael Reid 20pts. Thursday nights Competition was won by, Damian Eames with 23pts,  2nd Willie Tiernan 21pts (countback) and 3rd Pat Conroy 21pts (Countback).  Friday was the last of the Scrambles and was a freebie with “prizes for everyone  in the audience”. 1st Place to Brendan Gaffney, Mary Lombard and John Tiernan,  2nd Karl Keenan, Pat Conroy, Michael Gilmartin and Gareth Gilmartin At the  presentation Club Captain Brendan Gaffney thanked all who took part in this  years scrambles and said that they were a great success. The results for last  weekends Inter Club Alliance in Strokestown will follow next  week.&lt;br /&gt;Competitions for this week are the Mens Competition on Thursday and  an 18 hole stableford on Sunday 4th&lt;br /&gt;The draw for the winter league took  place last Sunday with the first round on Saturday/Sunday October 10th/11th. Congrats to Pat Conroy who has come close on a number of occasions and is  a worthy winner. At the presentation ceremony Club Captain Brendan Gaffney  thanked everyone who took part or helped in any way with the event. He  congratulated all the winners and said he was delighted the day was such a  success. The thanked the Musicians and also Phil and Gerry. A  double for the McLoughlin brothers.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;In inter club news good luck to our  Connacht Shield Team who take on Castledargan on Tuesday and our Cecil Ewing  Team who play Carrick on Saturday. The first round of the the King Harmon has  begun and is to be completed by August 16th. Competitions for this week are the  Mens Competition on Thursday and Friday nights Scramble. Next Sundays  competition is an Open Event for Boyle Business Association. Thursday nights Competition and Fridays Scramble  were both cancelled due to the bad weather. In inter club competitions congrats  to our Connacht Shield Team who beat Strandhill and now play Castledargan in the  next round. Congrats also to our Cecil Ewing Team who beat Enniscrone and are  now through to the zone final against Carrick-on-Shannon. Commiserations to our  mixed foursomes who were narrowly beaten by Claremorris in the Connacht  semi-final&lt;br /&gt;Competitions for this week are the Mens Competition on  Thursday night, Friday will be the Captains Scramble and next Sunday is the  Captains Prize. The winners were Gary Carty,  Jordan Nally and Dillon Beirne with a great score of 90pts, Second place went to  Colm Loftus, Dara Loftus and Liz Dwyer with 85pts and in third place were John  Tiernan, Michael McHale and Jimmy Dwyer with 82pts.&lt;br /&gt;At the presentation Club  Captain Brendan Gaffney thanked everyone for taking part and congratulated all  the winners. Organiser Pat Conroy thanked Shane Kelly of SuperValu for his  generous sponsorship of the prizes... Gary Carty spoke on behalf of the winning  team and said they were delighted with the win and thanked the sponsors for the  great prizes. He said that they looked forward to representing the Club in the  regional final.&lt;br /&gt;Competitions for this week are the Mens Competition on  Thursday night, Friday is social golf with the start of the Scrambles. This will  be followed by a table quiz at 9.30. All are welcome. Junior Golf lessons will re-commence in May, watch this space.&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;March 29th&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The  weekend had the second round of the Spring League with Sean Heslin, James Cooke  and Paddy McLoughlin leading the way on 178.4pts, in second place with 180.2pts  are Gary Carty, Timmy Carty and Eoin O’Donoghue and in third place with 180.6pts  are Jim Mooney, Jimmy Dwyer and Mary McKeon. The final round is on next Sunday  with all to play for. The Thursday night competitions will be commencing  shortly, more details next week.&lt;br /&gt;In other news congrats to Boyle natives  Chris O’Dowd starring in “The Boat that Rocked” and Paul Young whose company  produced “The Secret of Kells”. Both films showing in Carrick Cineplex.&lt;br /&gt;And  finally to those who didn’t already know…..A lip-out is a putt that comes to and  touches the hole and then changes direction.. There are three kinds of lip-outs.  There's the 'baby' lip-out, which catches just enough of the hole to swerve  away. The 'horseshoe', which comes right back at you. Then there's the lip-out  that defies physics where the ball spins more than 360 degrees and stays out.&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="text-align: justify;"&gt;&lt;span style="font-weight: bold;"&gt;March 23rd&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The first round of  the Spring League commenced last weekend with Gary Carty, Timmy Carty and Eoin  O’Donoghue leading on 87.1pts, in second place on 89.3pts are Jim Mooney, Jimmy  Dwyer and Mary McKeon and in third place on 89.4pts are Gerry Emmett, Michael  Reid and Maura Farrell. Nest weekend will be the second round with the final  round on the following week April 4th/5th. The St Patricks Day Fourball was won  by Willie Tiernan and Michael Keville (41pts) countback, 2nd Gary Carty and  Jordan Nally (41pts), 3rd Vincent and John Egan (40pts).&lt;br /&gt;And finally, (at  last)…..Damian Eames won the 2008 King Harmon last weekend beating Fergus  O’Beirne in a tight match. Next weekend will see the start of the Spring League which will run over three  weekends. Format is a scramble for the first nine holes with a rumble for the  second nine.
